We’re kicking off the semester with a deep dive into intergenerational justice, the idea of fairness between present and future generations. What does justice mean across time? Who speaks for the people of tomorrow? And how can their voices shape the decisions we take today, especially in global negotiations on climate change?

Intergenerational justice is often discussed in terms of sustainability: ensuring that today’s actions don’t limit tomorrow’s opportunities. But it also raises pressing dilemmas: how do we know what future generations will need? Do we have a moral obligation to act on behalf of people who don’t yet exist?
